Women Writers Reading Group

border

Statistics show that women are under-represented in the literary arts, and these statistics compel change and action. We need to read more books by women, review more books by women, encourage more women reviewers and writers, and create a culture where women’s work is afforded equal space in notable publications and treated seriously. This is a small independent initiative to help spread the word about women’s place in the literary arts. The Women Writers Reading Group only has two rules: read books by women, and then write about them on your blog/website. If you’d like to join, place this badge on your blog or website and help spread its message below:

By posting this badge on my blog/website, I’m joining the Women Writers Reading Group, with the aim of:

1. Making a conscious decision to read books by women, and;
2. Reviewing books by women on my blog/website.

There are no strict rules required to join the Women Writers Reading Group, as this is not like a regular book club where everyone has to read the same thing at the same time. Read what you like, and write what you like about it, as long as it’s by women. Everyone is invited to join, and there is absolutely no restriction to English-only books. Any questions? Email me.

Women Writers Reading Group is created by Hila Shachar, 2013.
