Gripping, haunting, well-written. I don't dare put myself in the same category, but I can and do empathize with being "Other." In my old world I was "Other" simply by being female. I too have felt the stares, the utterly unwillingness to listen, the awkward silences, the whispered "hush" from other women not wanting me to rock the boat, not wanting me to allow a spotlight on our femaleness, as if, somehow, by remaining hidden and quiet, we would be safe. We weren't. And the silence just made the abusers safe. You are brave, Hila. Brave to speak/write when others would wish you silent. Keep speaking. The world needs you.
