The Quiet Book

quiet

There are many kinds of quiet:

Quiet can be delicate.
Quiet can be thundering!
Quiet can be sweet, and cozy, and can most definitely help you fall asleep.

The Quiet Book by Deborah Underwood has to be the most ingenious picture book for children I have come across recently. I've been looking for a unique picture book for my friend's son, and this one stood out. I love the concept of introducing young children to look within, rather than out, to contemplate, rather than to want a plethora of things. And of course, I'm sure the concept of "quiet" would be appreciated by the parents! I wish there was a quiet book for adults.

I have been adding to my three year old's library quite a bit lately. I like to get her beautiful and thoughtful books and this looks like it would be a wonderful addition. It seems particularly well suited since she often asks for "quiet time" when she is upset or overstimulated. Thanks for the recommendation.

With noisy neighbours in mind, I wrote an exhibition proposal recently all about finding quiet... it is often on my mind. I must find myself a copy of this beautiful book. Must find a little quiet.
