Inhabit with Intensity

"After having followed the day-dreams of inhabiting these uninhabitable places, I returned to images that, in order for us to live them, require us to become very small, as in nests and shells. Indeed, in our houses we have nooks and corners in which we like to curl up comfortably. To curl up belongs to the phenomenology of the verb to inhabit, and only those who have learned to do so can inhabit with intensity."

-Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space, p. xxxviii.

I've been reading all day and I wanted to share this particular passage. Isn't "inhabit with intensity" the most wonderful turn of phrase?

I was drawn to the image of nooks and crannies in our homes that 'we like to curl up comfortably'. They sing to me - they are always calling me... mind, I'd look a little silly sitting in my wardrobe at this age.

Brings back fun memories and thoughts of Narnia.

Yes, good old Gaston really had a way with words. I read only 1 book by him but I really like it - I'm trying to remember the title but it's slipping away, argh!

Wow Hila, you always, ALWAYS make me stand still.
That such an amazing thing, you know.
Standing still is one of the most important things for me...

Gorgeus quote that i can read over and over again.
And that beautiful picture matches perfectly.

I hope you are doing fine, dear.

Words are so intense and so strange. You know, I love also the writing of words, I think is just because I love caligraphy, so for me when I write words the meaning are more intense, especific, and have more sense to me...

I went to a museum to see a Frida Kahlo exhibition, and she was writing a kind of journal, with short but very very deep and intense phrases, so when I saw her caligraphy, I can understand more what she felt when she wrote that,i love that sensation

Loved the picture too
