This is ... My Creative Space

Sunday, 15 June 2008

My creative space is my pseudo-office at home, where I spend most of my time these days working on my thesis. I'm hoping to finish it by February next year. The focal point of this room is, of course, my writing desk which these days is continually covered with a mountain of books and paper. I'm afraid it doesn't get much more aesthetically pleasing than this as the rest of the room is filled with, you guessed it, books. Some of these books are ...

(Clockwise) 1. ... open and underlined 2. ... very very old 3. ... newer but much loved 4. ... and the loveliest inhabitant of the room is my little kitty who, quite ironically, likes to sit on my desk next to my computer mouse. They're great buddies.

Thanks to Michelle from quiltingmick for this week's lovely "this is" theme.

So so many books... sounds like you are busy! Love that the cat has found a space of it's own keeping an eye on the mouse!
Great new header by the way.

Nice place to create. Books are great inspiration for me, even if they're just laying around.

I like your 'space'. And you've just given me another list of books to read.

Agree with inaki (above) there's not a room in my house that doesn't have at least a small pile of books in it. Even the bathroom has a magazine in lieu of a book! There's something about them being on hand that's comforting.

I'm curious - what's the topic of your thesis?

I am sure it is nice to have your kitty there for company.

Great to see there's so much love for books going around - as well as for my kitty too :)

Jenaveve - It's kind of hard to summarise my topic, but it's basically on adaptations of nineteenth-century literature, particularly Wuthering Heights. So I discuss film, ballet, opera, theatre, etc., but mainly film adaptations of the novel. I'm basically linking these adaptations to the concept of national literature in the UK and France/Western culture - i.e. the way that a particular text is used culturally, historically and politically - and a whole array of gender issues.
