Simply Breakfast

Tuesday, 17 June 2008

I know it's silly to be posting about breakfast when it's only a short while till dinner, but I would eat breakfast all day if I could. These scrumptious delights are from Jen's wonderful blog, simply breakfast. If you haven't perused through her delicious array of breakfasts, then you're missing out. I love breakfast food, so much so that I'm thinking that this year for my birthday I'll just invite my friends out to breakfast with me. Now, I'm off to eat something; I'm suddenly hungry!

I love breakfast. I never understand when people say they don't eat at breakfast time! What a shame... Those pics are great - the blueberry pancakes look especially good. mmmmm

I love simply breakfast. We are breakfast fans as well. Sometimes we will only go out for breakfasts on the weekends instead of the normal dinner routine. Also, "brinner" breakfast for dinner is fantastic!

My favorite meal! I miss the pancakes my mum used to make on Sunday mornings when I was a kid...

You mention Angela Carter among your favorite authors in your profile. I haven't read anything by her, what do you recommend?
And Mary Shelley's Frankenstein - really????

Yum indeed everyone! I don't know why, but looking at breakfast photos makes me feel so happy - I think it'll have to be a regular addition to my blog (thanks so much about your comment regarding my blog Erin!).

Mary-Laure - I'd recommend starting with "The Bloody Chamber" if you're new to Angela Carter. I think it's her best work personally. It's a collection of short stories that are re-writings of traditional fairy-tales. And "Nights at the Circus" and "Wise Children" are also excellent novels. Her writing style is one which people either love or hate, so I'd be interested to see what you think. It's sort of hard to explain, but it's like a bizarre mix of decandence and no-nonsense simplicity, if that makes sense :) And yes, Frankenstein is great! It's got one of the most interesting uses of the philosophical concept of "the sublime" I've ever come across in literature. Plus it's just a good novel!

I always look at Jen' breakfast photgraphs and ponder why my breakfasts don't look like this. So yummy!
